Annual Appeal 2012
Help Our Kids Grow Up
Dear Friends and Neighbors, Every morning when I walk into the Brigham Center, I am reminded of the crucial services we’re able to provide thanks to generous supporters like you. Stories like Amanda and Jarrod’s below constantly remind me and the staff why we come to work everyday, to tackle the hard issues and continue to learn how we can help our kids – to encourage them to study, make good decisions, and take care of themselves and their families. Every day girls and boys receive daily homework help in our ABC School Age Enrichment program, our youngest students prepare for kindergarten in our Early Childhood Education program, and girls learn to lead safer lives through Girls Inc. Project Bold®. Our work today shows our children a path towards a positive future they might not otherwise realize lay before them.
2011 marked our 100th anniversary of serving children from all over Berkshire County, and it’s the support of friends and neighbors like you that allows us to continue these crucial programs. The almost 3,000 children and teens that are touched by us every year need your help. Please make a contribution to help today’s children become tomorrow’s graduates, workforce, educators and parents. Thank you for your valued gift to the Brigham Center, this year and in years past. And each girl and boy we serve thanks you for investing in their future.
Warm regards,
Kelly A. Marion
Chief Executive Officer
Amanda is a 7 year old girl in the 2nd grade who suffered a tremendous amount of trauma in her life. When Amanda started at the Brigham Center two years ago, she never smiled, lacked confidence and self esteem, resulting in behavioral issues. Now
Amanda is a fun, loving, vibrant little girl who loves to dance, swim, and learn with her friends in the after school program. With the help of our staff over the past two years, Amanda’s confidence and grades have improved putting her on the track to success!
Jarrod is a 6 year old boy repeating kindergarten in a special needs classroom. When Jarrod started at the Brigham Center a year and a half ago he was not potty trained, did not speak, and was very afraid of people. With the help of Brigham Center staff, Jarrod transformed into a different child in a matter of months. Jarrod is now potty trained, he has come out of his shell and has begun speaking and participating in group activities. With the support of the staff, Jarrod continues to work on his speech and will happily advance onto first grade next year.
