Please support our Annual Appeal for 2009

Your support will enable us to give opportunity to children who would otherwise not have this chance, by inspiring them academically, socially and creatively. Through best practices programs, the children and youth at the Brigham Center enjoy greater self-esteem, a more positive view of school, improved communication, and real dreams to pursue a college degree.

The Brigham Center has continued to adapt and respond to the changing needs of our community and of our children with the implementation of essential academic and mentoring programs. This work has made inroads in a wide range of areas, from reading and writing levels to pregnancy prevention and HIV awareness.

And as they say, “the proof is in the pudding.”

Last year, data shows that the Girl Power! Mentoring program drastically improved conflict resolution skills among participants and also raised their aspirations to pursue higher education. Participants in the HIV Leadership program showed a significant improvement in understanding how HIV is contracted and 90 percent felt comfortable speaking in public, compared to zero percent before the program. And nearly 80 percent of the children in the LEAP program (Literacy Education Arts and Progress) improved their grades and attendance during the program, and 85 percent improved their problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Ensuring that each and every one of our young people has the skills to succeed in early education is a critical piece of the puzzle, which affects every element of our community, including our schools, our quality of life, and our economy.

Your support is now more important than ever, to continue the work that the children have started, to continue the progress that the children have made. The Brigham Center extends with open arms out to each and every child in our community with the hopes that they have the opportunity to succeed.

Please consider a gift of $100, $250 or $500 to give the children we serve the unconditional support of an adult who can help them develop emotionally and intellectually. Or, join the other generous donors who provide the bedrock of our support in the Presidents Circle with a gift of $1,000 or more to help a child see themselves as a scholar and a self-starter.
